I'm sure most here have a good idea where they want to be in a year. Lets hear the goals for 2010.

Lets also hear how everyone did in 2009.

I'd like to hit 90/115 in 2010 @69

My goals for 2009 were to compete and hit 80/100 in comp. I didn't compete, but hit 86/108 in training, so that's a start smile.gif
My training log

Well, in the nick ov time i made my 120 snatch goal, and absolutely annihilated it. Unlike myself in the PL 3-lifts and many other weightlifters i've seen, when i hit max snatches my form is at its best. 120 was so strong i went for 123 and absolutely had it, but this spot on my abdomin i 'brush' with the bar got smashed pretty good on 120, then worse on 123, and worse again on the next attempt, resulting in the most massively ugly fucking black internal-bleeding bruise/tumor you've ever seen. I was going to get that 123 tomorrow, but its still black und huge. With 123 i would have (very) unofficially made the 258 national qualifying total that was my big goal for this year. My form and speed is light-years ahead ov where it was last year.

My clean hasn't moved all year. Though i did 138x1 last year, i got 131x3 this year, thats technically an improvement... Again, my form is FAAAR better than it was last year. Which is why my lack ov progress is so frustrating.

My jerk is up 8kg, and thats still not indicative ov what i'm good for. I should have tried that tonight, but i got a 8kg triple PR instead. Again, progress ov a different sort.

Made my bench goal, 10lbs over it actually. Did the 405 i wanted in solid, strict IPF paused form, and was good for more in the weeks that followed, but my spine broke before i could test it. Didn't make any squat goals, but i did put at least 40lbs on my high-bar olympic squat. If that carries over to my front squats the way it did last year i've likely made my 200kg front squat goal. Maybe i'll try it next week.

2 0 1 0

This year, no numerical goals. That never works. What i AM going to do however, is absolutely perfect my snatch technique, or get as close as possible. I've got new inspiration... like never before, and i will not settle for 'good' or 'very good' even more. Even if my snatch max only goes up 5kg this year i want people to say 'Fucking WOW' when i do it. Until 6 days ago, i didn't know if i was capable ov moving like 'young people' in the sport, or how far i could theoretically progress... but now i know i've got as much ultimate potential at 36 than all but the most dedicated and talented teenagers. My 2010 goal is to be fucking WICKED at this. But a higher total would be nice too i guess... . . .

The goal for cleans is much the same, but honestly, i'm gonna focus more on the snatch. It carries over quite a bit by default anyways i find. If nothing else i'd like to get over my utter and black hatred ov cleans, and at least bring them up to a respectable snatch/C&J ratio. Even if its still snatch-dominant. Will also start actually training my jerks seriously. They're still my strongest lift, but i cant have them lagging behind my cleans or worse, missing C&J's because ov them.

Right now my squats are stronger than ever, as is my core, so i dont think that 200kg front squat is out ov the question this year. Still not a goal really. Heh... i sure as hell dont need to front squat 200kg at my level.

Oh... and the number ONE goal for 2010... FIND A NEW GOD DAMN GYM OR CLUB!

How about actually entering a contest and seeing what you can really do under contest conditions instead of yacking about it on the internet? You are a walking plethora of excuses. You cannot enter a weightlifting contest because you do not have a coach and you cannot enter a Powerlifting contest because you do not like the gear??? Give me a break. Wankers like you are a dime a dozen. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Lots of talk and no action. It is real easy when you can hide behind a computer screen under a pseudonym! It would be interesting to see you put it on the line for a change but something tells me your ego could not handle it.

Heeeyyyyy... my troll is back! Where you been...???

Actually, i just explained why i dont, or haven't competed, or wait, no that was another thread. You should have jumped on that one, way more shit to harp on than this one. Pay attention boy. You're gonna hurt my feeling... . . .

Lots ov action here too, BRO. I lift, lots, and often, and (usually) well. There are more than enough members here that can attest to that. One thing i DONT do is say "Oh i could beat this guy or that..." "I could nail this total in comp..." blah blah. I understand there is a world between gym lifts and platform lifts, do you? There is not one word or line ov 'talk' or 'excuse' in that post. Not one. Who the hell ever said i wanted to compete? Do i HAVE to compete to lift weights? I dont hide, and thats NOT a pseudonym. I'm at more meets than most lifters, train lifters, coach lifters, and support the damn sport(s). Do you...???

I'll agree that there IS a lot ov talking going on here, but its coming from YOU. Who the hell are you anyways? There are a dozen lifters here that know who i am and know what i can do in the gym. I am not the anonymous POWERHOUSE beakin' off around here...

Play nice. Or i shall say play nice again.

I did 115/140 without training for 20 days as I was on holiday so that was really good biggrin.gif

I am new here guys so just to let you know a bit about myself: I was into bodybuilding when I was 13 years old- 19 then quit because of work/life etc. During that time I competed in a natural bodybuilding contest (2nd place in Jrs @ 16yrs) and broke a long standing highschool powerlifting record by Ed Brost, @18 yrs old/215lbs,I benched 345lbs, and Deadlifted 560lbs to break his record by 5 lbs, to get my name up on the board at the school, It was a goal I set the day I saw that on the board at school so I was quite happy about doing it. In the summer of 08 @25yrs old, I started tinkering around with weights again and in Nov I got into trying some Oly lifts out. I met a coach (Dieter Stamm)in Jan 09 and started to lift on my own but with some help from the club.

2009 Goals:
The first thing I wanted to do was qualify for the Provincial Senior Championships that were to be held on Dec 19th/09. I needed a 191 Kg total @94. I made a 200kg total at my first competition on Jan 31/09.
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=IxkNfuA1FyM

My second goal of 2009 was to make a 248kg total @94kg in order to qualify for the Canadian Sr. Nationals, which I did on Dec 19/09:
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=RP-VrJUPfgQ

2010 goals
My goals for 2010 are to train 6 days a week and improve my speed under the bar along with catching in a deeper position. My numerical goals are to do:
120/150 at the CDN SR. Campionships May22/10
130/160 by the end of 2010.

Hey Rob,

4kg shot.

You may be right, my PR atm is just under 19m so i think its achievable.

ive got a feeling the BW one will be the hardest. It certainly should not be though.

OK with a 4 kg shot it is not the hardest one. maybe the sprinting depending on your current pr and technique?

you have goals for strength and weight gain will certainly help there

you also have power goals where some will be easier with extra bw i.e. power clean and others harder: vert jump, sprint. but it is obviously possible to do well at all of these at higher bodyweights (i.e. most bobsleigh athletes) but it just has to be functional weightgain. So aiming for myofibrillar hypertrophy and not Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. So contractile muscle fibers and not just fluid and glucose starage in your muscles think Weightlifters vs. bodybuilders. but you already know this laugh.gif

Yeah, part of me wanders if i could already hit 20m with the 4kg shot. ive not throw since i came back to uni over three months ago now. I plan to do some indoor throwing during training again now because theyve fixed the throwing net at the gym.

Yeah, I feel like getting my squat up and a bit more BW will help with my power clean. The power clean is probably my strongest lift.

I agree the sprinting will be the hardest one especially with the extra BW. I've never felt faster than a few weeks back when my BW was right down at 86kg and i will still as strong at power cleans as before at 90kg.

Thinking about it i want to set a broad jump goal too but i need to test its current level first. Maybe 2m 90cm, my best early this year was 2m 75cm on grass.

To gain the weight you needed did you resort to any less than ideal food stuffs?

Thanks Rob.

Oh yes! When I started bobsleigh I was eating a pint of ben and jerry's ice cream almost everynight. obviously lots of good food and protein everyday but eating "extras" like this can get your calories to the point where you can grow. This "diet" was approved by Dr. John Berardi when I met with him. smile.gif

I dont have any proper (competition) Olympic goals, but I do have some power related stuff I'd like to do (bit late in the year but hey);

OH shot with 7.26kg; 16m (14m)

OH shot with 3.5kg; 23m (21m)

Shot put; 14m (haven't done a proper one yet)

Power clean; 130kg (125kg ~ I want this with barely rebending the knees though)

Olympic squat; 230kg beltless (230kg belted)

Considering I have only ever done one session with the OH shot I think 16m and 23m are feasible. I heard off a friend one of the top discus guys in britian did 20m with the 7.26kg
6'1, 100kg, IPF, belt only.

Competition goals for 2010 (current)

Squat; 250kg (235kg)

Bench; 145kg (135kg)

Deadlift; 305kg (295kg)
