In America, he'd get 30 days in jail plus 5 years probation. In Russia, the government will chop off his dick and make it into soup.

Twas a joke.
Not really.
1. He wasn't arrested. Usually, people who wasn't arrested right after the crime don't get actual prison time.
2. A few days before this "incident" he was enrolled in a special forces police unit. Another reason for authorities to shield him.
3. According to last rumors I read (I agree it's only rumors), some forces already try to prove that the victim was crossing the street on red light.
4. It will be his first conviction.
5. Victim is nobody.

5. Victim is nobody.
wow. that's a pretty shitty thing to say. there were somebody to someone.
and if he was drunk, fleeing officials and he killed somebody, I don't give a fuck who he is; he needs to spend about 20 years in the box

I think Vik means the victim is 'nobody' to the government that may 'shield' Misha.
Regardless, I totally agree with you.

I used to like Koklaev, now I just think he is a scum bag. Driving drunk is one of the worse things you can do.

damn this sucks.....guess hes done....
I doubt it, the legal shit will likely allow him to lift still. However, i think it would mostly depend on what kind ov man he is, if killing a man gets to him like it would most people, he might never be the same, even if he gets a slap on the wrist. Far lesser things have mentally fucked good athletes before. Or if he's just another sociopath and easily gets on with his life, then he could still go on to be the world champion.
I didn't think Russian cars even got big enough to kill a person though...

He was driving Toyota... It's considered lame in Russia to drive a Russian car - even Moscow hookers won't get into a clietnt's car if it's Russian, I saw it with my own eyes. Tough guys there drive only foreign autos.

To clarify, Koklyaev has not been arrested or charged at this point in time and a police report hasn't been issued yet. It has been stated that the pedestrian was crossing against a red light.
Hmm.

He will get off easily-make no mistake. He is 'somebody' the other guy is 'nobody'. This happens all over the world. Anyone with a degree of wealth, power or influence can beat a rap. I've seen a famous movie star in India kill 2 guys and nothing happened. He paid of the cops, paid of the relatives of the victims-walked home free. He was dead drunk. This is the shitty world we live in.

QUOTE(ironmind)
Upset by what she describes as people seeking to undermine Russian strongman Mikhail Koklyaev, his manager, Ekaterina Mayorskaya, told IronMind, “I beg you not to pay any attention to the press information about Michael Koklyaev’s accident that is now circulated in Internet . . . It is all a lie.”
“It is not an official version of what really happened and part of it are sheer fabrications of Michael’s [Mikhail Koklyaev’s] ‘friends’ and ‘well-wishers’ who are eager to smear his reputation as [a] famous sportsman and public person,” Ms. Mayorskaya said.
“It goes without saying that what happened is a tragedy for many persons and for Michael as well. No one has the right to use it for self-serving purposes,” she continued.
“For the moment the legal authorities abstain from making public their official conclusions because the investigation is still going on. But we already know for certain that Michael was driving according to the traffic rules, that the speed of his car was not excessive and that he was perfectly sober (immediately after the the accident he pass through alcohol test),” Ms. Mayorskaya said, in direct contradiction to most of the major points presented in the reports that she is challenging.
