from Derrick Johnson:
Lindenwood University which is located right outside of St. Louis, Missouri will be starting a weightlifting program to begin this fall of 2009. I(Derrick Johnson) will be the coach of the team and I am currently looking to recruit Olympic weightlifters of all levels that would like the opportunity to go to college and be able to train in a lifting environment. Athletes who attend Lindenwood University will be fully outfitted, their expenses to competitions will be paid for including meals, hotels, competition fees, and travel costs. The ahletes attending Lindenwood will have the option of staying in dorms or on campus housing, and will recieve three meals a day. We will be accepting undergraduates, graduates, transfer students, and international students.
I(Derrick Johnson) graduated from Lindenwood University in 2008, and Jeff Wittmer currently attends the university. For more information on the school you can visit Lindenwood.edu.
If you are interested in attending or have any questions you can e-mail me at DJohnson2@Lindenwood.edu or at Weightlifting@lindenwood.edu.

This would have happened about five years ago but the USAW powers (at the time) did not support it.

Doh!
Hmmmmm...me going back to do another BSc or postgraduate? If I didn't like my job and career path I'd give it more considerations...

Hey, Mike, this sounds very interesting since I'll be getting my bachelors in construction management hopefully by next spring, and I'm looking to pick up my MBA at a school with a weightlifting program. I was thinking LSU but this program also sounds pretty damn good. Still a newbie at weightlifting but have never had the opportunity of really good coaching.

A fellow lifter in my club applied but still has not heard anything he is 17 and can do 132/155 @94kg his best comp total is 280.
Has he emailed, or talked to, Derrick Johnson? Their admission staff is overwhelmed. Derrick may not even know. Email me, mjwittmer@aol.com and I'' get him in touch with Derrick. They are driving to the junior antionals tomorrow, however.
